COEHS Dean Interviews Scheduled

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Four candidates for the Western Illinois University College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) dean position will be on WIU's campuses for interviews Wednesday-Thursday, March 25-26; Monday-Tuesday, March 30-31; Wednesday-Thursday, April 1-2; and Tuesday-Wednesday, April 7-8, according to Inessa Levi, College of Arts and Sciences dean and chair of the search committee.

Larry Robinson, vice provost at Seton Hall University, will interview March 25-26. Open sessions will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 in Horrabin Hall 1 on the WIU-Macomb campus and from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26 in Room 102C at the WIU-Quad Cities 60th Street campus.

Virginia Hicks, dean of education and professional studies at Shepherd University (Shepherdstown, WV), will interview March 30-31. Open sessions will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, March 30 in Horrabin Hall 1 on the WIU-Macomb campus and from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 in Room 102C at the WIU-Quad Cities 60th Street campus.

Sterling Saddler, interim associate dean for research and administrative at the University of Nevada (Las Vegas), will interview April 1-2. Open sessions will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1 in Horrabin Hall 1 on the WIU-Macomb campus and from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2 in Room 102A at the WIU-Quad Cities 60th Street campus.

Robbie Steward, director of the master's counseling program at Michigan State University, will interview April 7-8. Open sessions will be held from 1:30-2:30 Tuesday, April 7 in Horrabin Hall 1 on the WIU-Macomb campus and from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 in Room 102C at the WIU-Quad Cities 60th Street campus.

Robinson has served as vice provost at Seton Hall University since 2007. Prior to joining Seton Hall administration, he was the dean of the College of Education and education professor for two years at the University of Central Arkansas. Robinson has also served as the dean of the School of Education at Marian College of Fond du Lac; executive vice chancellor of the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith; vice president for academic affairs at Arkansas Tech University; and provost and academic vice president of academic affairs at the University of Houston-Victoria. He received his doctorate degree from Oklahoma State University, his administrative credentials and his master's degree from University of Tulsa and his bachelor's degree from Northeastern Oklahoma State University.

Hicks has served as dean of education and professional studies and professor at Shepherd University since 2006. Prior to joining Shepherd University, she was chair and professor in the department of health, physical education, recreation and coaching at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for five years. Hicks has also served as division head of fitness education at Santa Fe Community College; chair of the department of human performance, leisure and sport;visiting professor and university wellness director at New Mexico Highlands University Las Vegas, New Mexico; and a school health promotion specialist for the New Mexico State Department of Health, Public Health Division. She received her doctorate degree from the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque); her master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Iowa; and her associate's degree from Kirkwood Community College (Cedar Rapids, IA).

Saddler has served as the interim associate dean for research and administrative at the University of Nevada (Las Vegas) since 2007. He is also an associate professor in the department of educational leadership, workforce education and development and is the founder of the Center for Workforce Development and Occupational Outreach. At UNLV, Saddler has served as educational leadership department chair and assistant chair. Prior to joining the UNLV faculty, he served as dean and assistant dean of academic affairs at Center City Business Institute (Syracuse, NY); as a teacher and administrator for the Syracuse City School District; as an accountant for the Urban League of Onondaga (Syracuse); and in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He received his doctorate degree from The Pennsylvania State University, his master's degree from the University of New York (Oswego) and his bachelor's degree from Tuskegee University.

Steward has served as the director of the master's counseling program at Michigan State University, where she also serves as a professor in the department of counseling and educational psychology and special education, since 1998. Steward is also a governor-appointed member of the Michigan Board of Counseling. She has also served as an associate professor at Michigan State; as building coordinator and team leader of the ninth grade team in a Professional Development School; program director of Total Education, Inc.; assistant professor and staff counselor at the University of Kansas; and a counselor at the University of Oklahoma. She received her doctorate and bachelor's degrees from the University of Oklahoma; and her master's degree from Central State University (Edmond, OK).
