Holistic Wellness Weekend at WIU's Horn Field Campus April 25-26

MACOMB, IL -- Explore the benefits of yoga, meditation and taking a holistic approach to wellness through the Holistic Wellness Weekend at Western Illinois University's Horn Field Campus 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Saturday, April 25 and 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, April 26.

"Horn Field Campus is offering the weekend to target those interested in pursuing holistic wellness through physical, spiritual and emotional strength," said Rose Gochenaur, event organizer and graduate assistant in the recreation, park and tourism administration department. "It's a weekend to pause and take a break from what oftentimes is the hectic pace of life," she added.

According to Gochenaur, the weekend will feature yoga with Karen Mauldin-Curtis from WIU's Peace Corps Fellows program; meditation with Adam Chacksfield; and labyrinth with Kelly Quinn. The event will also include reflection time and fire-side conversations. Sunday will be kicked off with sunrise yoga and conclude with a wellness hike (1–4 p.m.).

Cost is $20 for both days ($15 for Saturday, $5 for Sunday) and includes lunch Saturday and Sunday. There is also the option of staying in one of the three cabins; an evening meal will not be not furnished Saturday, but a full kitchen will be available for use.

Limited space is available and interested individuals are encouraged to pre-register on or before Wednesday, April 22.
