DFMH Fundraisers: VAMO Car Wash May 1 at Hy-Vee; Dinner May 3 at Western

MACOMB, IL -- Don't miss out on the chance to wash your wheels and help out a good cause at the Western Illinois University Visual Apparel Merchandising Organization's car wash, slated for 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Friday, May 1 in the Macomb Hy-Vee parking lot. All of the proceeds from the car wash will go toward a $500 scholarship for a WIU student in the dietetics, fashion merchandising and hospitality (DFMH) department at WIU.
WIU's Visual Apparel Merchandising Organization, or "VAMO," is an active campus organization sponsored by fashion merchandising majors. Through the organization, social, educational and professional opportunities are provided to students, facilitating interaction among the students, faculty and retailers.
Western's DFMH will hold another fund-raising event in early May with the Ambassadors' "Cinco de Mayo" Fundraiser Dinner. The dinner is scheduled for 5–7 p.m. Sunday, May 3 in the Knoblauch Hall corporate dining room (239); all proceeds will go toward the group's promotional and professional needs.
The meal includes a "build your own burrito" buffet -- including chicken, ground beef, steak, lettuce, cheddar cheese, rice, black beans, peppers, onions, red sauce and sour cream. Chips and salsa; mock margaritas and daiquiris; and a dessert of modified Mexican fried ice cream will be served.
