"A Friend Indeed" Documentary Screening at WIU's Sandburg Theatre Oct. 24

MACOMB, IL - - The inspiring real-life documentary about hope, compassion and the power of friendship, called "A Friend Indeed," will be presented at Western Illinois University by Lane Wyrick.

The screening is from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 in WIU's University Union Sandburg Theatre and is sponsored by the social work department.

The documentary screening by Wyrick is about Bill Sackter, a national hero who forever changed the way society looks at people with disabilities. This incredibly entertaining and truly inspiring documentary shows the life of Sackter, who was in a state institution for nearly his whole life until being taken in by Barry Morrow and given a chance to be a part of society.

The documentary came after the made-for-television movie "Bill," starring Mickey Rooney as Sackter and Dennis Quaid as Morrow. Wyrick will make an appearance and DVDs will be available after the screening.
