ISTA Honors Past Presidents: 3 WIU Emeritus Faculty Among Them

MACOMB, IL -- Three former Western Illinois University faculty members, along with other past presidents of the Illinois Science Teachers Association (ISTA), were recognized Nov. 13th at an ISTA conference luncheon in Peoria (IL).

Maurice Kellogg, WIU professor emeritus (who taught in Western's elementary education and reading department, now the curriculum and instruction department) was the third ISTA president (1971-72). Don Hamilton, professor emeritus in Western's College of Education and Human Services (COEHS), was the fifth ISTA president (1975-76). Don Nelson, professor emeritus in WIU's COEHS, was the 18th ISTA president (1999-2000).

According to conference officials, Kellogg and Hamilton addressed the conference attendees and spoke about the early days of the organization.
