MACOMB, IL - - Student organizations at Western Illinois University will host two events Thursday, March 25 and Saturday, March 27 in preview of Western's annual Disability Awareness Week, which is scheduled for April 5-9.

Students for Disability Awareness will host the movie "The Music Within" and following discussion from 7-10 p.m. Thursday (March 25) in the University Union Sandburg Theatre. The movie looks at the life of Vietnam veteran Richard Pimental, a gifted motivational speaker and advocate for people with disabilities, and his tough times getting to this point. Pimental lost nearly all of his hearing serving in Vietman, and that tossed him into a new circle of friends, including a man with cerebral palsy and an alcoholic war veteran. The movie is open free to the public.

The sixth annual Wheelchair Basketball Tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday (March 27) in the Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center. Teams are already established, but fans are welcome to cheer them on. The double-elimination tournament is sponsored by the Student Therapeutic Recreation Society and Campus Recreation.
