Author, Humorist Kurt Luchs at WIU March 31-April 1

MACOMB, IL - - Radio broadcaster and comedy writer Kurt Luchs, who contributes to The Onion national weekly parody read by more than three million people, will visit Western Illinois University-Macomb Wednesday, March 31 and Thursday, April 1 for presentations and a fundraising dinner to go toward scholarships.
Luchs will talk about "The Writer's Life" at a reception and dinner beginning at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday (March 31) at the Old Dairy, 210 S. Lafayette Street.
He will present "Journalism and Humor: From Mark Twain to Jon Stewart" at noon Thursday (April 1) in the University Union Sandburg Theatre. The presentation is open free to the public.
Luchs has written for television's "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher" and "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," as well as prestigious magazines including The New Yorker and McSweeney's and the literary humor Web site "The Big Jewel."
He runs six radio stations in the Pacific Northwest; and for five years he managed the American Comedy Network, syndicating audio humor to U.S. radio stations. He is also the author of the humor book, "Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli: A Wiseguy's Guide to Business."
Tickets to the March 31 scholarship fundraising dinner at the Old Dairy are $18 for the public and $15 for WIU students. Each ticket purchased will receive a charitable giving receipt for $10 from the WIU Foundation. Onion books will be available to purchase, and there will be a drawing for a DVD of "The Onion Movie: Raw and Uncut."
