Outdoor Skills Seminar at HFC May 1; Session Lineup Available

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's Horn Environmental Learning Project (H.E.L.P.) will offer an Outdoor Skills Seminar from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 1 at WIU's Horn Field Campus (HFC).

H.E.L.P.'s Outdoor Skills Seminar is open free to the public. The session line up for the event includes:

Saturday, May 1
4-4:45 p.m. -- "Ten Essentials of Outdoor Living"
by Mike McGowan, professor in WIU's recreation, park and tourism administration department and Wilderness Education Association instructor

5-5:45 p.m. -- "Outdoor Ethics" by Mark Burton, No Trace Advocate, Illowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America

6-7 p.m. -- "Dutch Oven Cooking -- Taste Treats for All!" by Paul Kirwan, master chef and Boy Scouts of America leader

7 p.m. -- Mingle and clean up

HFC is located south of Macomb on China Road. From South Johnson Street (past Macomb High School), turn right on China Road and follow the road one-quarter of a mile to the Horn Field Campus entrance. Parking is permitted on the HFC lot.
