According to the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions' website (http://coehp.uark.edu/6701.htm), this award is "given based on demonstrated service to the counseling profession through publication, leadership and administration, and an ongoing research agenda."

"Dr. Newgent has distinguished herself in every professional role she has held, including her contributions as a practicing clinician and administrator. Her outstanding record of research and related scholarship fits nicely with the direction the counselor education department and the College are heading.
