WIU Alum Guzzardo to Address Digital Information Glut and American Culture at Malpass Feb. 24

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University Libraries and the Department of English and Journalism are honored to host local designer, lawyer and WIU alumnus Paul Guzzardo for a lecture next month. Guzzardo will present "How to Scavenge and Survive Inside a Wikileak Dumpster—and Don't Even Think About Prospering" at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 in the Leslie F. Malpass Library's Garden Lounge.
During his lecture, Guzzardo will map the devolving state of the American public sphere.
"I am interested in epistemology and where urban designers, traditional creative practitioners and collectors fit, and/or don't, in a 'zoomed out' digitized culture. I look to the street as the place to probe how we're being changed by the sweep of information technologies," he noted.
Guzzardo's writings have appeared in academic monograms, blogs and popular journals, including Architectural Design. He is also a presenter in the Visionary Urban Design Lecture Series at The School of Architecture at Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY).
Guzzardo's lecture is open free to the public.
