Sunday, May 1, and Sunday, May 7 (2011), staff at Western Illinois University's Horn Field Campus (HFC) will be on hand to help you enjoy the amenities HFC has to offer. From 2-4 p.m. May 1, Horn Field Campus will be open for a spring hike on the HFC trails. May 7, from 1-4 p.m., HFC will have open climbing via the high ropes course and/or its 40-foot climbing and rappelling tower.

MACOMB, IL -- Get out and get some exercise at Horn Field Campus! A unit of Western Illinois University's College of Education and Human Services and administered by the WIU Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration, Horn Field Campus is a 92-acre retreat that includes woodlands, prairie and several miles of nature trails.

The next two Sundays, staff at HFC will be on hand to help you enjoy the amenities this outdoor jewel of WIU has to offer. From 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, Horn Field Campus will be open for a spring hike on the HFC trails. The following Saturday, May 7, from 1-4 p.m., HFC will have open climbing via the high ropes course and/or its 40-foot climbing and rappelling tower.

Cost for the high ropes course is $10 and cost for the climbing tower is $5 ($15 for both). Equipment and instruction are included in the fee. (Climbers age 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)

HFC is located south of Macomb on China Road. From South Johnson Street (past Macomb High School), turn right on China Road and follow the road one-quarter of a mile to the Horn Field Campus entrance. Parking is permitted on the HFC lot.
