Moreno to sign copies of latest book, 'It Happened in Illinois,' Sept. 10 in Macomb

MACOMB, IL - - Rich Moreno, who teaches journalism and serves as director of student publications at Western Illinois University, has a new publication to add to his growing list of works on Nevada and Illinois history: "It Happened in Illinois."

Published by Globe-Pequot Press, "It Happened in Illinois," spotlights 25 significant, interesting or noteworthy events in the state's history. It begins with the discovery of the land by Marquette and Jolliet in 1673 that became Illinois, and includes such milestones as the death of Elijah Lovejoy, the first martyr of the anti-slavery movement; the killing of Joseph Smith, the latter-day Mormon prophet; the Great Chicago Fire; the weird plot to kidnap Abraham Lincoln's body; and the Rod Blagojevich trial.

Moreno will sign copies of the new book from 10 a.m.-12 noon and 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at New Copperfields Book Service, 120 North Side Square in Macomb.
