MACOMB, IL -- Don't let those shoes you (or your kids) never wear keep hiding out in the closet. Instead, drop them off at the Soles4Souls RV at the Western Illinois University Macomb campus Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 19-20.

The Soles4Souls (S4S) has teamed up with the Associated Students of History (ASH) at WIU to collect shoes, which are then distributed to children and adults in need.

The S4S RV will be parked in Q-Lot from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. both days. S4S team members and ASH members will also host an information table in the University Union Concourse from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Individuals may drop off shoes (and donations) at either the Union or the Soles4Souls RV.

Soles4Souls, which was established in 2004, collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and from the general public. The charity distributes these shoes to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away more than 14 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 7 seconds.) The shoes have been distributed to people in more than 127 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States.
