MACOMB, IL – More than dirt, rocks and maps, geography is a discovery process about the earth around us, including its inhabitants.

Wednesday-Friday, Sept. 28-30, the Western Illinois University geography department will host the Geography Research Exhibit 2011 from noon–4:30 p.m. in the Institute for Environmental Studies, Tillman Hall 301F. An opening reception will be held from 12–2 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 28) in Tillman 301F.

The Geography Research Exhibit displays the faculty and student professional publications and presentations in Western's geography department during the last year. More than three-quarters of the scholarly work presented are works done by students, said Associate Professor Redina Herman, event coordinator.

"This exhibit showcases the range of topics that make up the field of geography and gives students, the campus community and the Macomb community a chance to see what geography is all about," Herman added.
