Ukulele University Oct. 9 at Horn Field Campus

MACOMB, IL – Learn to play the ukulele at Ukulele University. Offered through the Western Illinois University Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration (RPTA) and Horn Field Campus, the instructional workshop, UKE 101, is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at Horn Field Campus.

UKE 101 is designed for individuals who have no experience with playing the ukulele and introduces the basics of ukulele playing including tuning, as well basic chords, strumming techniques and songs. The workshop instructor is Michael McGowan, professor, RPTA.

Advanced registration for the workshop is required, and cost per individual is $10. Registration deadline is noon Friday, Oct. 7. Ukuleles can be provided to the first 10 individuals who register for the workshop, or if you have one, you can bring your own.

Directions

HFC is located south of Macomb on China Road. From South Johnson Street (past Macomb High School), turn right on China Road and follow the road one-quarter of a mile to the Horn Field Campus entrance. Parking is permitted on the HFC lot.
