Open High Ropes, Climbing Tower Hours at Horn Field Campus This Spring

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University's Horn Field Campus will host open high ropes and climbing tower hours this spring. High ropes course open hours are set for April 1 and May 5; open hours for the climbing tower are set for April 29.

A unit of Western Illinois University's College of Education and Human Services and administered by the WIU Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration, Horn Field Campus (HFC) is a 92-acre retreat that includes a 40-foot climbing and rappelling tower, a high ropes course with a zip line, as well as woodlands, prairie and several miles of nature trails.


Horn Field Campus offers a variety of educational activities
and team-building opportunities for WIU students and members
of the Western Illinois community. This video features clips of

HFC will be open from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 1 and Saturday, May 5 for those who want to try the high ropes course. Cost for the high ropes course is $10. Equipment and instruction are included in the fee. From 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 29, HFC will also host open climbing tower hours; cost to participate in the climbing/rappelling tower activity is $5, and equipment and instruction are also included in that fee. For both activities, individuals age 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

HFC is located south of Macomb on China Road. From South Johnson Street (past Macomb High School), turn right on China Road and follow the road one-quarter of a mile to the Horn Field Campus entrance. Parking is permitted on the HFC lot.
