McNabb: Honors College Associate Director

MACOMB, IL – Jennifer McNabb, associate professor of history at Western Illinois University, has been named the associate director of Western's Centennial Honors College, effective Aug. 16, according to Honors College Interim Director Rick Hardy.
McNabb joined Western's history faculty as an assistant professor in 2005. Previously, she was at Colorado State University (2003-2005). During her tenure at Western, McNabb has taught honors history classes, along with introductory, upper-division and graduate courses, and has supervised undergraduate honors theses in history, as well as supervised undergraduate and graduate research projects, grants and conference presentations. McNabb has also regularly served as faculty mentor for students presenting at the annual Thomas E. Helm Undergraduate Research Day.
In 2009, she won both the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Teaching Award and the Provost's Award for Academic Excellence in Teaching. She has been a member of the University Honors Council, and has served on the Centennial Honors College scholar, writing prize and scholarship subcommittees.
"We are so pleased that Dr. McNabb has stepped forward to serve as the associate director," Hardy said. "She has been involved with the Honors College since joining Western's faculty, and is committed to engaging students in research activities and professional presentations. Her experience and her dedication to not only her students, but to the University, will serve the Honors College well."
She has served on a variety of curriculum committees at the departmental, college and University levels for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Among her leadership positions, McNabb has chaired the University Graduate Council and is currently completing a term as the vice chair of the Faculty Senate. She served as the adviser of the Associated Students of History for five years and is the adviser of the Alpha Epsilon chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. Her scholarship includes award-winning papers published in the journal of the Rocky Mountain Medieval and Renaissance Association and The Sixteenth Century Journal.
McNabb received her doctorate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, her master's degree from Bowling Green State University and her bachelor's degree from Adrian College (Adrian, MI).
