MACOMB, IL -- It's not too early to start thinking about the 2012-13 school year. If you're concerned with your son's or daughter's reading skills or your student needs some study strategies, Western Illinois University's Graduate Reading Program can help. The program will offer free diagnostic and tutoring services during Fall 2012 for students in kindergarten through grade 12.

According to WIU Curriculum and Instruction Associate Professor Melissa Stinnett, the learning experience will focus on improving participants' reading and writing abilities.

The tutoring program will be offered on two evenings each week throughout the Fall 2012 semester, according to grade levels. Tutoring for students in grades 6-12 will begin Wednesday, Sept. 5, while tutoring for students in grades K-5 begin Thursday, Sept. 6. All sessions are from 5:30-6:45 p.m. in Horrabin Hall on the WIU-Macomb campus. Graduate students in the reading program are certified teachers and are currently working toward their master's degrees to become K-12 reading specialists.

Registration is required. To register or for more information, contact Stinnett at
