• CBT Executive in Residence Series on March 4, 2019
  • The WIU College of Business and Technology’s Executive in Residence (EIR) Series will feature Jay and Chris Heubner on March 4, 2019. Jay is President and General Manager of Ace International Holdings and Chris is the Human Resource Manager at Wheaton Academy. The EIR program allows alumni and friends to share their career stories with current students. For more information about EIR visit here.

• WIU School of Agriculture Open House on March 22, 2019
  • The WIU School of Agriculture is hosting an Open House on March 22, 2019 for high school and transfer students interested in pursuing an agriculture degree. For more information and to register, visit here.

• WIU School of Computer Sciences receives grant to develop virtual reality learning environments for students with Autism
  • WIU School of Computer Sciences’ Associate Professor Dr. Justin Ehrlich is involved with a project to develop virtual reality environments to teach social skills to students with Autism. The United States Department of Education is funding the grant that will support Ehrlich’s work for a five year period. Find full story in Variety magazine.

• WIU-QC Students Compete in Case Competition at Purdue
  • Six Western Illinois University-Quad Cities Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) students participated in the 2018 Krannert Human Resource Case Competition and Executive Dinner on Nov. 8 at Purdue University. The case competition is an opportunity for students to compete while sharing creative solutions with business leaders. For the full story, visit here.

• WIU Supply Chain Management Professor Publishes New Textbook
  • Western Illinois University Supply Chain Management (SCM) Professor, Dr. Barton Jennings, has recently published a new transportation textbook. The Basics of Transportation is being used in the SCM transportation management class and was written with the help of industry partners to have a practical handbook for industry professionals.

• WIU School of Agriculture Opens Leatherneck Meats
  • Students in the Western Illinois University School of Agriculture have found a unique way to raise money for the department while learning valuable career skills, by starting Leatherneck Country Meats – The Purple and Gold Standard of Western Illinois University, a pork sales operation run from the University Farm. Career Development Center

• It's that time of year again! Registration for the March 5th, 2018 Spring Career & Internship Fair (all major fair) is now available. Register your organization online. WIU alumni get a $25 discount off the total registration fee. Registration is $150 for one company bringing one recruiter, $10 will be added for each additional recruiter attending. Non-profit and governmental agencies are charged a $75 flat fee (no discounts available). If you are currently job searching, alumni are welcome to attend the fair to speak to company representatives at no charge. Register here.
  
   
• The Career Development Center is also taking donations for the Captain’s Closet, which offers free professional clothing to the students. The closet is in major need of women's suits and men's dress shoes. Donations can be dropped off at the registration table at the fair or to Memorial Hall 125 at any time.

• PAS Gala Save the Date
  • April 6: Save the Date for Performing Arts Society Starry Night Gala and Auction, from 5:30 -11:00 p.m. in the Union Grand Ballroom.

• Department of Art
  • March 6: WIU Department of Art presents First Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex, and the WIU Art Gallery.  Free night of hands on art making for all ages!

• BCA
  • March 6: BCA and the Preforming Arts Society present Doktor Kaboom! Wheel of Science at 7:00 p.m. in the Union Grand Ballroom. This show is free for kids 18 and younger, and their families! 
  • March 26: BCA presents Ryan and Ryan Piano Duo at 3:00 p.m. in the COFAC Recital Hall. Tickets available by calling 309-298-2900 or online here.

• School of Music
  • March 1: WIU School of Music presents the Annual Concerto/Aria/Composition Competition Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the COFAC Recital Hall.  Free and open to the public.
  • March 3: WIU School of Music University Singers and Choir Concert at 3:00 p.m. in COFAC Recital Hall.  Free and open to the public.

  • March 7: WIU School of Music Chamber Orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. in COFAC Recital Hall. Free and open to the public.

  • March 29: WIU School of Music Concert Band at 7:30 p.m. in COFAC Recital Hall.  Free and open to the public.

• Theatre and Dance

School of Global Education and Outreach

• The International Bazaar will be held March 2. Travel the world at the 46th International Bazaar on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 5 - 10 p.m. (doors open at 4:30 p.m.) in the University Union Grand Ballroom! Visit booths that represent countries from all over the world, sample authentic cuisine ranging from $1.00 to $2.50 per item, and experience world music, performances by students, and a fashion show displaying beautiful traditional clothing. Other highlights will be a Kids Craft Corner from 5-8 p.m. and an International Marketplace for purchasing souvenirs and goods from all over the globe. Admission is $2 for students with a valid WIU ID, $5 for non-students and $2 for youth ages 5-12. Children 4 and under are free. For more information email CIS-Activities@wiu.edu. The International Bazaar is sponsored by WIU’s International Friendship Club and the Center for International Studies.
