The College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Biological Sciences were proud to welcome some distinguished Biology alumni back to campus for the Third Annual Jill M. Brody, MD/McDonough Eye Associates Pre-Med Symposium Feb. 20 presented by the Centennial Honors College.   • WIU School of Computer Sciences receives grant to develop virtual reality learning environments for students with Autism
    • WIU School of Computer Sciences’ Associate Professor Dr. Justin Ehrlich is involved with a project to develop virtual reality environments to teach social skills to students with Autism. The United States Department of Education is funding the grant that will support Ehrlich’s work for a five year period. Find full story in Variety magazine.
  • WIU-QC Students Compete in Case Competition at Purdue
    • Six Western Illinois University-Quad Cities Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) students participated in the 2018 Krannert Human Resource Case Competition and Executive Dinner on Nov. 8 at Purdue University. The case competition is an opportunity for students to compete while sharing creative solutions with business leaders. For the full story, visit here.
  • WIU Supply Chain Management Professor Publishes New Textbook
    • Western Illinois University Supply Chain Management (SCM) Professor, Dr. Barton Jennings, has recently published a new transportation textbook. The Basics of Transportation is being used in the SCM transportation management class and was written with the help of industry partners to have a practical handbook for industry professionals.
  • WIU School of Agriculture Opens Leatherneck Meats
    • Students in the Western Illinois University School of Agriculture have found a unique way to raise money for the department while learning valuable career skills, by starting Leatherneck Country Meats – The Purple and Gold Standard of Western Illinois University, a pork sales operation run from the University Farm.   • PAS Gala Save the Date
    • April 6: Save the Date for Performing Arts Society Starry Night Gala and Auction, from 5:30 -11:00 p.m. in the Union Grand Ballroom.
  • Department of Art
    • March 6: WIU Department of Art presents First Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex, and the WIU Art Gallery.  Free night of hands on art making for all ages!
  • BCA
    • March 6: BCA and the Preforming Arts Society present Doktor Kaboom! Wheel of Science at 7:00 p.m. in the Union Grand Ballroom. This show is free for kids 18 and younger, and their families!
