Professional Activities

  • Dr. Baker and Mr. Jay Solomonson, the high school agriculture teacher at Orion and 2002 graduate, presented an innovative poster at the North Central American Association for Agricultural Education Conference held at the University of Illinois-Urbana on Oct. 4-6, 2012.  The poster received the "2nd runner-up" award in the faculty division during the poster session.  The poster was entitled "The SAE Struggle," which highlighted Mr. Solomonson's SAE handbook constructed for his students to stimulate the development and creation of SAEs among his students.
  • Jo-Ann Morgan, Associate Professor of African American Studies, presented a research paper titled "Using Ephemeral Visual Culture to Galvanize Black Power" at a conference on "Fire Every Time: Reframing Black Power Across the 20th Century and Beyond" held at the Avery Research Center, College of Charleston, Charleston, SC on Sept. 20-23, 2012.
  • Jo-Ann Morgan, Associate Professor of African American Studies and Art History, presented a research paper titled "Topsy, Eva, and the Bipolarity of Black and White in 19th Century Illustrations of Children" at the annual meeting of the Mid-America College Art Association held in Detroit, MI, Oct.3-6, 2012.
