Mobile Computing Awareness Day Nov. 7; Proposals Due Oct. 26

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's annual Mobile Computing Awareness Day (MCAD) is set for 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the University Union Capitol Rooms. Members of Western's Mobile Computing Task Force (MCTF) encourage faculty and staff who use mobile technologies for learning and/or student affairs to consider presentation ideas for the event. WIU-QC personnel and students can participate via video conference at the WIU-QC Riverfront Campus, room A103.

WIU students and faculty and staff members interested in presenting or hosting/sponsoring a table showcase are encouraged to submit proposals on or before Friday, Oct. 26. Presentations or table showcase presentations that relate to best practices or are innovative, engaging and/or pedagogically sound uses of mobile technology in teaching and learning are encouraged. Suggested presentation topics include (but are not limited to):

  • podcasting
  • mobile applications (apps)
  • mobile web
  • polling
  • classroom management
  • research

Proposals can be submitted to Chad Dennis via email (CE-Dennis@wiu.edu) at WIU's Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research (CITR). Submission guidelines include:

  • title of the presentation or table showcase (presentations must be 25 minutes or less);
  • short description of the presentation or table showcase;
  • full name, title and department;
  • campus contact information, including phone and email address; and
  • equipment needs (tables and Wi/Fi are available. A screen and projector for presentations will be provided in the Capitol Rooms.).
