"The Vagina Monologues" Cast Chosen for February Performance

MACOMB, IL - - Twenty-two Western Illinois University students and one WIU staff member have been cast for "The Vagina Monologues," which will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 15-16 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 at the WIU Multicultural Center.

Cierce Carter, a freshman forensic chemistry major from Edinburg (IL), is directing the production. Women's Center graduate assistant Katelin (Katie) Mey, of Cleveland, OH, is the production coordinator. Women's Center Director Janine Cavicchia is the production adviser.

"The Vagina Monologues" is part of the V-Day College Campaign sponsored by the WIU Women's Center and Western's Feminist Action Alliance (FAA) student organization. This year's spotlight campaign is One Billion Rising.

Funds raised by the performance will be donated to organizations and causes that provide violence prevention education and survivor support services, including the Women's Center, the Western Illinois Regional Council-Community Action Agency Victim Services, University Counseling Center and the V-Day Foundation.

Tickets, which go on sale after December 3, will be $10 for students and $12 for non-students and may be purchased from V-Team (cast and crew) members and in the Women's Center, Multicultural Center, room 209, as well as at tables in the University Union concourse in January and February 2013. Payment can be made by cash or check made payable to the Women's Center.
