Sansone Sculpture Exhibit Opens at WIU Gallery

MACOMB, IL – An exhibition of artwork by sculptor Dominic Mario Sansone opened at the Western Illinois University Art Gallery this week.

The show, titled "It Shoots Further Than We Dream," runs through Saturday, Feb. 16 and is highlighted by a public reception hosted by the artist on Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the gallery. Sansone will speak at 6:30 p.m.

The exhibition is planned in conjunction with the University's theme, "War and Peace: From Personal Conflict to Global Resolution."

In addition, WIU Gallery Director Ann Marie Hayes-Hawkinson will host a gallery talk at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, to talk about the artwork.

The exhibition is a unique look at the incorporation of warfare and violence into today's culture and media.

A 47-minute video that includes discussion of the work by Sansone and Hayes-Hawkinson, produced by Michael Thompson of University Television at WIU, will air throughout January on local cable channel 3.

7 a.m. - Wednesday, Jan. 16
5 p.m. - Saturday, Jan. 19
11:12 p.m. - Sunday, Jan. 20
10:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. - Monday, Jan. 21
6 a.m. - Tuesday, Jan. 22
2 p.m. - Wednesday, Jan. 23

Sansone currently works in St. Charles (IL) and is an instructor at the Evanston Art Center.
