MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University will celebrate International Education Week with a series of activities Monday, Nov. 10–Friday, Nov. 21.

International Education Week (IEW), a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange. International Education Week promotes opportunities for cultural learning and sharing.

Highlights of International Education Week activities this year at Western include:

  • "Discrimination in Small Town America" Presentation - Wednesday, Nov. 12
  • "Bitter Seeds" Movie Screening - Thursday, Nov. 13
  • World Cup Indoor Soccer Tournament - Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15
  • Phi Beta Delta International Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner - Saturday, Nov. 15
  • Paella Demonstration - Thursday, Nov. 18
  • "Human Trafficking as a Global & Local Issue" Presentation - Tuesday, Nov. 18
  • "Afghanistan: A Personal Journey" Presentation - Wednesday, Nov. 19
  • Cultural Café: Spotlight on Iraq - Thursday, Nov. 20
  • Study Abroad Informational Meetings
  • Spanish, German and French Conversation Hours
