WIU Steel Band Celebrates 30th Anniversary with May 2 Concert

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University Steel Band will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.
The concert will feature guest artist Chris Patterson, an alumnus of the WIU percussion and steel band programs.
Additionally, WIU Professor Emeritus Richard Cheadle, founder of the WIU Steel Band, and many steel band alumni will attend and perform with the current ensemble in an Alumni Mass Band.
A new scholarship has been established in Cheadle's name to be awarded to a percussion major who is active in both concert percussion and steel band.
The concert open free to the public.
