Dear Western Illinois University Veterans and Active Service Members,

Western Illinois University has a long and rich tradition of honoring and serving veterans and active members of the armed forces. On this special day, I want to personally pay tribute to those individuals who have put themselves in harm's way to protect the freedoms that we enjoy. You have dedicated your lives to this great country, and your service and selfless commitment deserve recognition.

We are proud of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are veterans and current active members of the armed forces. From the floor of the House, Congressman Dan Lipinski proclaimed, "On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free."

I reaffirm Western's commitment to you and your families, and I offer our deepest appreciation for your service and dedication.

Sincerely,

Jack Thomas
President
Western Illinois University
