WIU Alumnus, Former Head of the Defense Intelligence Agency Moves to U.S. Cyber Command Post

MACOMB, IL -- U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart, a 1981 Western Illinois University history graduate, will step down as the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency today (Oct. 3). He has been tapped to become the Deputy Commander of U.S. Cyber Command.

Stewart became the 20th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Commander, Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance in January 2015.

"My family came to this country with nothing. We came with only the American dream of having a better life," Stewart said in a story for the Western Alumni magazine. "But if you work hard and commit to your values, it all works out."
