Bubb Named Executive Director of Development

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- Paul Bubb, associate athletic director for development, Cal Poly Pomona, has been named the executive director of development at Western Illinois University.

Bubb has served as the associate athletic director for development, Cal Poly Pomona, since 2016. At Cal Poly, he directed all aspect of the major gift fundraising for athletics, including establishing an annual giving program and developing new sources of revenue. Bubb also directed corporate sponsorships and coordinated efforts with development officers across the university for major gifts.

Previously, he was the director of development at Cal Poly from 2015-2016. Bubb has worked as the associate athletic director for external affairs at Murray State University (2008-2014); as director of athletics (2005-2008), senior associate athletic director (2004) and assistant athletic director for development (2003) at Idaho State University; as interim director of athletics (2002-2003) and senior associate director of athletics (2001-2002) at the University of Maine; assistant director of the Bronco Athletic Association at Boise State University (1999-2001); and director of athletics (1995-1998), associate athletic director (1992-1995) and director of athletic development (1990-1992) at Cal State Northridge.

Paul's many years of fundraising experience within higher education will further enhance and strengthen the University's development efforts and initiatives," said Brad Bainter, vice president for advancement and public services.

Bubb earned his master's degree in sport management from WIU and his bachelor's degree in history at Monmouth College.

"I appreciate the opportunity that Mr. Bainter has made available to me. I feel like I am returning home. I look forward to working for my alma mater and finding ways for my fellow alumni and friends of the University to support our programs and mission," Bubb said.

The executive director of development at Western is responsible for leading a team of fundraising and advancement professionals and support personnel who are engaged in institutional advancement efforts. The executive director coordinates and executes a unified and balanced development strategy, and assists in the planning, execution and management of comprehensive campaigns for the University.
