Buck Knowles Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Funeral services for A.L. "Buck" Knowles will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, at St. Paul's Church in Macomb. Knowles passed away Thursday, April 12 in Macomb.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb.

Knowles was hired as a parking services agent for the Western Illinois Office of Public Safety in 1989 and he served the University for five years.

He graduated from WIU in 1947, where he played baseball. Knowles was inducted into the WIU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1982, was a 1986 recipient of the WIU Alumni Achievement Award and was inducted into the Illinois Softball Association Hall of Fame in 1980.

During his career, Knowles was a teacher, worked for King-Seely Thermos in Macomb and was director of the Macomb Park District for 22 years.

Knowles is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his sons, Steve and John; his daughter, Nancy; step-daughters, Julie and Susan; step-son, Kevin; one sister, Margaret; five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
