Penelope Yunker Receives Illinois CPA Society Lifetime Achievement Award

MACOMB, IL - - Former Western Illinois University Accountancy Chair Penelope Yunker recently received the 2018 Illinois CPA (certified public accountant) Society Lifetime Achievement Award.

Every year, the Illinois CPA Society recognizes outstanding leaders within the CPA community through its prestigious awards. The Lifetime Achievement Award is the society's highest honor it bestows upon the member who receives it by demonstrating distinguished service to the Illinois CPA Society and the CPA profession.

Founded in 1903, it is one of the largest CPA societies in the nation, with the mission of enhancing the CPA profession.

Yunker retired from Western in 2004 after 28 years of service. She served as chair of the accountancy department from 1986-2004. During her time at WIU, she taught courses on several topics, including intermediate accounting, accounting for athletic administration and international accounting, and she was active in professional service with organizations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the American Accounting Association, the Midwest Accounting Society, the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) and the Illinois Board of Examiners (IBE).
