MACOMB, IL –- The Community-University Partnership Program (CUPP) will hold its 13th annual Welcome Back Party from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 on the front lawn of Sherman Hall (rain location: University Union Grand Ballroom).

The event, which is open free to the public, will feature music, food, games and prizes.

"It is our pleasure to collaborate with the City of Macomb and the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce to bring our students, faculty, staff, and community members together at this annual welcome back event," said Western Illinois University President Jack Thomas. "the CUPP Block Party is the perfect opportunity for students, Macomb residents, faculty and staff to join together to get to know one another, as well as celebrate the start of a new academic year."

A table fair, featuring local businesses, will also be part of the event.

"Macomb residents and members of the WIU community are encouraged to come out for an evening of fun, food and getting acquainted," said Macomb Mayor Mike Inman.

The CUPP organization, comprised of University and community representatives, was formed to promote relations between the college and the community. CUPP meets several times a year to discuss topics of importance to both communities.
