WIU-RPTA Invites Community to Development Conference's Keynote Address April 12

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration (RPTA) will host its annual Professional Development Conference Friday, April 12 on campus.

RPTA invites the public to attend the conference's keynote address from 8:30-9 a.m. April 12 in the University Union Heritage Room. The event is open to the public in recognition of the partnerships RPTA has with other campus departments and community agencies.

This year' speaker is Tracey Crawford, executive director of the Northwest Special Recreation Association, a partnership of 17 park districts in the northwest suburbs of Chicago committed to supporting community access to recreation for people with disabilities.

Crawford has more than 30 years of experience promoting recreation for everyone and speaks frequently at state and national conferences about the inclusion of individuals with disabilities into park and recreation programs.

As a published author, Crawford has received numerous accolades for her commitment to inclusion and collaboration. She has also been recognized for her abilities to coordinate unique and mutually beneficial collaborations that engage corporations, civic organizations, universities and legislators to benefit local communities.

The conference begins with registration and a mini career fair at 8 a.m. Friday, April 12.
