Virtual Interviews Set for International Affairs Director Position

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University will host virtual interviews for the remaining three of the four candidates for the Western Illinois University executive director of International Affairs April 7-14.
Candidates include Nathan Myers, associate provost for International Initiatives, Youngstown State University (Youngstown, OH); Sam Bandy, director of Global Affairs and English as a Second Language programs, Rockford University (Rockford, IL); and Roland Gleen, director of Operations and general manager for GoUSAdegree (St. Louis, MO). Another candidate, Luchen Li, dean of Global Services and a professor of English at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, was on campus March 3-5 for interviews.
Open sessions via Zoom will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 for Myers (https://wiu.zoom.us/j/157346279); Thursday, April 9 for Bandy and Tuesday, April 14 for Gleen (https://wiu.zoom.us/j/155845434). Links for Bandy and Gleen will be provided at a later date.
Myers has served as associate provost for International Initiatives at Youngstown State since 2016. Previously, he served as a visiting professor of Organizational Behavior and Management for Providence University in Taiwan in 2015; associate professor of Educational Foundations from 2013-15, executive director of the International Programs Division from 2011-13, director of CEDAR: The Center for Educational Development & Research from 2008-11 and assistant professor of Educational Foundations from 2005-11 for Ashland University (OH).
Myers received his bachelor's degree in history from Mount Vernon Nazarene College (OH) and his Ph.D. in higher education studies from the University of Kentucky.
Bandy has served as director of Global Affairs since 2014 and the English as Second Language (ESL) program for Rockford University since 2013. He also currently serves as a senior teacher and TESOL expert for Beijing Service Bureau (BDS) (since 2017) and IELTS examiner for the ELS Language Centers since 2012. He previously served as adjunct Spanish instructor (2013) for Rockford University; online TEFL certificate instructor for the International TEFL Academy (April 2011-Sept. 2016 and Aug. 2018-present); ESL instructor for ESL Language Centers, Inc. (2011); campus manager (2012-13), ESL academic dean (2011), and adjunct ESL instructor (2009-10) for the Computer Systems Institute; ESL and Spanish adjunct instructor for Lewis University from 2009-10 and adjunct Spanish instructor for the College of DuPage from 2009-11.
Bandy received his bachelor's degree in International Business from Northern Illinois University, a Master of Science in Foreign Language Learning from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Art in Spanish Literature and a Doctor of Education in Adult and Higher Education from Northern Illinois University.
Gleen has served as director of Operations and general manager for GoUSAdegree since 2019. Previously, he has served as director of International Services from 2006-19 and assistant professor of Political Science and international recruiter from 1997-06 at MSU (Midwestern State University) in Texas.
Gleen earned a Bachelor's of Mass Communications from MSU, his master's degree in political science and his doctorate in political science from Washington University (St. Louis).
