MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Western Illinois University faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends are invited to share comments for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) assurance argument review for WIU's reaffirmation of accreditation, which will take place in March 2021.

More information, including the feedback form, can be found at wiu.edu/aasp/accreditation/review.php. Feedback must be submitted by Feb. 17.

The HLC, which is a regional accreditor of postsecondary education institutions, will conduct its 10 year review of WIU, with a reaffirmation of accreditation visit March 26 and March 29, both virtually and in person. According to Mark Mossman, associate provost and associate vice president and WIU's Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO), while the review occurs every 10 years, Western has been actively working on its reaccreditation preparation since 2011.

"This process is tremendously important for Western as it allows us to reflect on the performance of such valuable activities as the assessment of student learning, the cyclical review of academic programs, shared governance structures, the engagement and outreach that define the University's everyday practices, the University's mission and operations and much more," Mossman added.

Among other documents, the WIU accreditation team will submit a large assurance argument and evidence file, and will coordinate the visit of the HLC Review Team.
