Richard "Dick" Eugene Leatherwood Obituary

MACOMB, IL – A graveside service for retired Western Illinois University Postal Administrator Richard "Dick" Eugene Leatherwood, of Marietta, GA, a member of the 1956 Leatherneck championship football team and Macomb's second Black police officer in 1962, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb. Leatherwood, 83 passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26 in Austell, GA.
He was the mail room supervisor at WIU from 1973-1984, and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from WIU.
Leatherwood is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Kecia; two sons, Kortney and Kerrick; stepson, Lloyd; and 14 grandchildren.
