MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Beginning Monday, Aug. 23, Western Illinois University faculty, staff, and students will be required to participate in the University's weekly COVID-19 testing program. Individuals may opt out of testing if proof of vaccination is provided. Testing will be required each week for those individuals who have not received a COVID-19 vaccination.

WIU-Macomb COVID-19 Fall 2021 test clinics will begin Monday, Aug. 23. Fall 2021 test clinics on the Macomb campus will be held from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday thru Thursday in the WIU Student Recreation Center MAC Gym (south gym). Test clinics will be held in Riverfront Hall on the WIU-Quad Cities campus from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday.

Individuals on the Macomb campus who must comply with the weekly test requirement MUST register in advance at the following site: https://www.wiu.edu/covidtest/. Quad Cities faculty, staff, and students do not need to register in advance for the CRL brand tests used at the QC campus.

WIU-Macomb faculty, staff and students will use the SHIELD Illinois fast-turnaround saliva-based COVID-19 tests. The SHIELD test requires individuals to deposit a small amount of saliva in a vial, which usually takes less than five minutes. The CRL saliva test kits will continue to be used on the WIU-QC campus.

For individuals who are vaccinated, a copy of the vaccine card may be submitted to WIU's internal secure site at wiu.edu/vaccinationportal/ (select "student" or "employee" category). If individuals do not wish to upload the information, the vaccination card can be presented at the following locations: WIU-Macomb students: Beu Health Center; WIU-Macomb Employees: Sherman Hall 321 (Vice President for Student Success Office); WIU-Quad Cities Students & Employees: Riverfront Hall. Students, faculty, and staff who will not be on campus during the 2021-2022 academic year are exempt from these requirements.

Individuals who do not upload/present a vaccination card and who do not participate in the required weekly testing will be subject to disciplinary action consistent with WIU's Human Resources and Student Conduct procedures.
