Stipes Hall Pipe Replacement: Restroom Changes
MACOMB, IL -- As part of the ongoing piping replacement project in Stipes Hall on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus, restroom changes will be in place through at least the end of October.
Phase one of the project, which is expected to last three to four weeks, will require all women's restrooms to be taken offline. To accomodate faculty, staff and students in Stipes, the men's restrooms on floors one and three have been designated as women's restrooms, while the men's restrooms on floors two and four will continue to be designated as men's restrooms.
Both men's and women's restrooms on the fifth floor are offline. Phase two will require all of the men's restrooms to be taken offline, with similar accommodations in place as in phase one. Signage is posted at each restroom and at each entry door to provide direction to the correct floor and restroom.
According to Troy Rhoads, assistant vice president for facilities management, the project is part of the Illinois Board of Higher Education's emergency deferred maintenance project program. Construction crews will install new water service piping to the women's restrooms first, followed by new water service piping in the men's restrooms.
"Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to install new water pipes in Stipes, which will greatly improve the service to that building and mitigate the possibility of a complete shutdown," Rhoads added.
