University Union Community Day Nov. 18

MACOMB, IL – University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS), the University Union and Sodexo Campus Services at Western Illinois University will host a Community Day, in partnership with the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, in the University Union Concourse from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18.

A ribbon-cutting event will be held at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the renovated Union Food Court, which now features Qdoba and The Daily Drool (Proudly Serving Starbucks) coffee shop, along with Chick-Fil-A. The food court will be open until 7 p.m. Parking will be available in the lots surrounding the Union.

In addition, the University Bookstore will be open until 7 p.m., and discounts will be offered to shoppers. The 2022 WIU Col. Rock IV (aka Ray) calendar is hot off the press, and a special "pawing" (signing) will be held at Bookstore with the cutest mascot around during the University Union Community Day event. The calendar is on sale now at the University Bookstore for $5.50 and is also available for purchase online at bit.ly/WIUColRockCalendar2022.

Also as part of Community Day activities, University Scheduling and Event Services will be available to answer questions about scheduling events at WIU; Sodexo Catering will be on hand to share their services; tours will be held of the University Union, including the Union Hotel; and Undergraduate Admissions will have information about WIU geared towards local students. Sodexo will also be announcing the recipients of the Sodexo scholarships, which are awarded annually totaling more than $20,000.

"We're excited to partner with Sodexo and the Chamber to showcase what the University Union – and WIU - offers not only to our campus community, but to the surrounding communities," said Ashley Katz, director of the University Union. "Join us for good food and good company on Nov. 18 at WIU."
