Mary M. Leach Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Funeral services for Western Illinois University Emeritus Professor and retired Acting Dean of the College of Applied Sciences Mary M. Leach were held Friday, Dec. 17 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Macomb.

Leach passed away in O'Fallon, IL, Thursday, Dec. 9. Burial will follow Friday's services at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.

Leach was hired at WIU in June 1969, as an assistant/associate, then full professor in Home Economics, until her retirement in 1995. She had also served as assistant/associate dean of the College of Applied Sciences from 1977-1990, and then acting dean of the College of Applied Sciences from 1990, until her retirement.

After her retirement, Leach began a second career, working for the Regional Office of Education as coordinator of the Tech Prep Connection Project for the West Central Illinois Consortium and director of the K-16 Partnership for Student Mathematical and Scientific Achievement Project. She retired from the local regional office in 2011.

Leach is survived by her daughter, Rachelle; and her brother, James.
