Espinoza Awarded WIU President's Scholarship

MACOMB, IL - High school senior Jose Espinoza, of Melrose Park, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President's Scholarship, in conjunction with the Western Commitment Scholarship. Together, these scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and standard board for eight semesters.

"The campus life at Western was the deciding factor," said Espinoza. "I would love to live in an Honors community on campus."

Espinoza plans to major in clinical laboratory science.

In high school, Espinoza was involved in National Honor Society, PULSE, marching band, cross country and dancing in cultural assemblies.

At Western, Espinoza plans to participate in dance, the Honors College, LGBTQ resources and join a fraternity.

After graduating from WIU, Espinoza plans to go to medical school or graduate school.

To qualify for the WIU President's Scholarship, students must first be awarded WIU's Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by proof of volunteer and community service.
