MACOMB, IL -- The Bureau of Cultural Affairs (BCA) and the Western Illinois University Department of Theatre and Dance will host the Dumela Alumni Council Reunion Concert, "African American Theatre Through the Years" at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 26 in the Horrabin Theatre.

The concert will feature WIU alumni Melody A. Betts, Gary Brice, Anthony Hendricks, Charleston Owensby and Tuesdai B. Perry.

BCA offers the best in arts and entertainment by featuring national and internationally touring artists in the WIU and Macomb communities. It strives to foster in its members and patrons a life-long appreciation for the performing arts.

The Dumela Alumni Council is an organization established to support WIU's Department of Theatre and Dance by serving as advocates for Western's BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) student body. Founded by 2009 WIU Theatre MFA Alumna Melody Betts, the Dumela Alumni Council "strives to 'Be the Bridge' between the current students, the department and its professional alumni."

According to Betts, Dumela is a Bantu word meaning, "I believe in you, I affirm you and I see the great potential in you."

Tickets are $15 for the public, $10 for senior citizens and students, and are free for WIU students with valid student identification.

To purchase tickets, visit the Box Office in the Hainline Theatre lobby, call (309) 298-2900, or visit westernpresents.com.
