MACOMB, IL -- The Eta Epsilon chapter of Phi Beta Delta, an International Honor Society, is accepting applications for membership from qualified Western Illinois University faculty, students, alumni and community members until Friday, Nov. 4.

"We are looking forward to meeting new potential members to this organization," said Michael Lorenzen, Eta Epsilon chapter president. "Please join us and strengthen the globalization of our campus and community. All who have an interest in international education are invited to meet with us."

Interest meetings will be held online and on campus. A Zoom meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m. at wiu.zoom.us/j/98478151026. The campus meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Malpass Library in the MLK Room on the sixth Floor of Malpass Library. All are welcome to attend.

The Eta Epsilon chapter of Phi Beta Delta was founded at WIU in 2009. The chapter aimed to recognize and encourage high professional, intellectual, academic and personal achievements in the field of international education. More than 10 years later, the chapter continues its mission on campus and throughout the Macomb community.

This chapter encourages international programming and promotes the exchange of ideas and information among an interdisciplinary network. Staff, faculty, students and community members are involved in international endeavors such as study abroad, faculty collaborations, guest presenters and international campus events. Efforts also include fundraising and awarding scholarships for student international opportunities, making connections with international organizations and universities and promoting the international community through presentations, concerts, meetings and other events.

Student membership is $35 the first year and $30 thereafter. Staff, faculty, community members and alumni membership is $65 the first year and $30 thereafter.

Completed applications can be emailed to PBD@wiu.edu. For more information, or to obtain a membership application, visit wiu.edu/global_studies/phi_beta_delta/index.php.
