First Wednesday Art Program Feb. 1 at WIU

MACOMB, IL -- The Western Illinois University Department of Art and Design's first "First Wednesday" event of the semester will be held from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 1 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

WIU Art and Design faculty combine their efforts to offer creative, hands-on activities to visitors. This event is open free to the public, and visitors are welcome from campus and the surrounding community and region.

• Everyone is welcome, but all children under 13 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Feb. 1 activities include:

Garwood Hall
• Tape Collagraphs – Professor Bill Howard, Garwood 12
• Silkscreened Valentine Bags – Professors Susan Czechowski and Jenny Knavel, Garwood 11 and 16
• Robert Indiana - Valentine Magnets – Associate Professor Ta-Teh Ku, Garwood 24
• Small Scale Painting – Professor Tim Waldrop, Garwood 25
• Single Panel Cartoons – Professor Damon McArthur, Garwood 34

Heating Plant Annex
• You Gotta Have Hearts – Department Chair and Professor Kat Myers, HPA 107
• Post-It Note Challenge – Associate Professor Ian Shelly, HPA 111

The University Art Gallery will also be open during the event. Come and see the exhibition, "Human/Mother/Black" by Ashley January, and check out the second round exhibit for the annual Mavigliano/Brabec Senior Art Prize Competition, in the Heating Plant's Annex Gallery.
