MOLINE, IL – Because of severe winter weather impacting the region, the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities campus will be closed Thursday, Feb. 16. All Quad Cities classes, events, and activities that are scheduled to physically meet on campus are canceled and buildings will be closed.

Online and livestream courses will continue to meet, unless an instructor chooses to cancel a course during a Quad Cities campus closure under the University-wide weather advisory (wiu.edu/news/newsrelease.php?release_id=19012&urgent=1).

WIU's Macomb campus remains open and under a winter weather advisory through 11 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 16).

During a Quad Cities campus closure, employees will be dismissed from and paid for their regular working shift. Employees working in essential positions may be required to work their regular hours during a total shutdown. Essential versus nonessential employees is determined by the supervisor and will depend on the nature of the advisory situation.

The WIU policy on limiting University operations because of emergency conditions is available in the Administrative Procedures Handbook, which can be viewed at wiu.edu/policies/emergency.php.
