Two Candidates to Interview for WIU Deputy Director of Operations and Maintenance

EDITOR'S NOTE: Lonnie Gilbert has withdrawn from today's interview process, so the third Zoom meeting will not be held.
MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Three candidates will interview Wednesday, May 3 for the open Western Illinois University position of Deputy Director of Operations and Maintenance.
Candidates include WIU Supervisor of Building Craftsmen Brad Payne at 8:30 a.m.; Interim Deputy Director of Facilities Building Maintenance and Operations Justin Griffith at 9:30 a.m. and Lonny Gilbert, owner of Gilbert Lot Striping, in Macomb, at 10:30 a.m.
All three candidates will meet with University faculty, staff and students for one hour. Scheduled sessions include:

Payne has been the supervisor of Building Craftsmen at Western since August 2021. Previously, he was an assistant chief building operating engineer from March 2015-August 2021; building operating engineer from August 2014-March 2015; a utility maintenance repairman PPIII from November 2012-August 2014; lead engineer from July-November 2012, and utility maintenance repairman from August 2005-July 2012.
Payne received his bachelor's degree in agricultural mechanics from WIU.
Griffith has been interim deputy director of Facilities Building Maintenance and Operations since September 2022. Previously, he was superintendent of landscape maintenance at WIU from January-September 2022; was a department manager at Pella Windows and Doors from January 2021-January 2022; director of public works for the city of Bushnell from March 2016-January 2022; utility manager for the city of Bushnell from January 2013-March 2016; electric lineman and apprentice natural gas serviceman for the city of Bushnell from April 2010-January 2013; a natural gas serviceman for the city of Bushnell from March 2007-April 2010; a crew leader for Timberhill Nurseries in Macomb from October 2005-February 2007; a job supervisor and laborer for Heritage Painting in Colchester from June 2004-August 2005; laborer and intern for Prairie Hills Forestry Consulting in Industry; and a job supervisor for Shughart Painting in Colchester.
Gilbert has been the owner of Gilbert Lot Striping since May 2004. Previously, he was a seasonal painter at WIU during the summers of 2004, 2005, and 2006; was a painter and sub-foreman for Knox College from October 1999-May 2004; and worked for Lou Gilbert Painting from June 1984-October 1999.
