WIU Broadcasting Students Gather Awards, Nominations

MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University's student-run broadcast news and sports media have won, and been nominated for awards from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Media Conference, Mid-America NATAS Emmy Awards, and National Electronic Media Association (NBS-AERho).

From IBS, Lyndsay Mach, a former broadcast journalism student, won first place for Best Spot News for NEWS3. From NBS-AERho, Dylan Smith, a broadcast journalism graduate, earned an honorable mention for best Video News Package and WIU Sports Broadcasting Spring 2022 earned an honorable mention for Live Sports Production. From the Mid-America Emmy's, Jack Bell, a broadcast journalism graduating senior, was nominated for a College Craft Talent - News or Sports Emmy.

NEWS3 is the student-run television station, WIUS-88.3 FM is the student-operated radio station at WIU, and WIU Sports Broadcasting is an emphasis within the Department of Broadcasting and Journalism. All are located within the University's Department of Broadcasting and Journalism in Sallee Hall.
