Western Board To Review Contracts

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees will consider collective bargaining agreements with four unions, including the University Professionals of Illinois (UPI) faculty unit and fiscal year 2005 budget requests at Western’s Friday, Sept. 12 meeting in the University Union Capitol Rooms.
The WIU Board will begin with the finance committee meeting starting at 8:45 a.m. The academic and student services committee meeting is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. The Board meeting will follow at approximately 11 a.m. with an executive session in accordance with the provisions of the Open Meetings Act. The open meeting will resume at approximately 12:30 p.m., following the executive session.
A base wage increase of 2.5 percent is included in the four-year agreement with WesternÂ’s UPI unit representing 630 faculty and other academic employees. Wage agreements calling for a 2.5 percent increase during the current fiscal year will also be considered for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 417, representing 155 employees; the Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council representing 20 employees; and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399 representing 33 employees.
Other items on the Board agenda include review of presidential and University goals for FY2003, confirming 2003-2004 fiscal year budget allocations and a 2004 meeting schedule.
