“Love Stories” Featuring WIU Dance Professor

MACOMB, IL - - The professional dancers of Ballet Quad Cities stage their latest Valentine 's-themed iteration of "Love Stories" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 at St. Ambrose University's Galvin Fine Arts Center, Davenport, IA.

Western Illinois University assistant professor and head of dance, Donald J. Laney, will be guest choreographer for Ballet Quad Cities' upcoming performance featuring Courtney Lyon's Carmen and guest choreographer Domingo Rubio, from Mexico City.

Donald J. Laney has worked regionally directing and choreographing shows at WIU, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Clinton Showboat, Cape Fear Regional Theatre and Theatre West Virginia. He will join Love Stories' creative team for the Act I modern-dance closer "Lust, Loss, Love," which explores the various stages of human relationships.

With over 20 years of continuous dance performance, Rubio stages Love Stories' Act I vignette, "Confrontation." It is a tango duet between two men who display rivalry, friendship and companionship.

Love comes in all different shapes, sizes and experiences. An all-new "Love Stories" featuring "Carmen" takes the Galvin Fine Arts Center stage this February. Join Carmen and Don Jose in the quaint town of Seville as their passion for each other unfolds and ends in tragedy.
