ROCHESTER, MN-- President Al Goldfarb was released from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (MN) today, Nov. 2, following his surgery Oct. 31 for prostate cancer. His letter to the campus community follows.

Dear Campus Community,

I wanted to drop a brief note to let you know that I have been released from the hospital. I stayed an extra evening (not based on the doctors' directives) because I was still coping with some minor post-surgical issues.

The doctors continue to tell me that I am recovering extremely well, even if I am cranky about those few minor issues. I am very thankful that the cancer was confined and that I will not need any further treatment. Elaine and I will stay in Rochester until next Thursday, when I will be released by the doctors here.

Please know how much I appreciate all of the kind e-mails, notes, and cards. I have been so touched by outpouring of support. Elaine and I send everyone our best early holiday wishes and look forward to returning after the New Year.

Sincerely,

Al Goldfarb
President
