Performance Poet Ge'ylah at WIU January 31

MACOMB, IL - - Performance poet Ge'ylah (jah LEE ah) will present "Power of the Tongue" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31 in the Western Illinois University Union Heritage Room.
The performance, which is being held in honor of February's Black History Month Celebration, is open free to the public.
"Through this presentation, a chronological celebration of the rich African-American literacy tradition through the works and words of African-American gurus, poets and writers, it is my desire to uplift, inspire and entertain," Ge'ylah said.
Ge'ylah, founder of The Power of the Tongue, Inc., is traveling to colleges and universities nationwide this year with the show's 10th anniversary celebration. Her website is www.powerofthetongue.com.
The "Power of the Tongue" performance is sponsored by Western's Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center and Women's Center.
